Apronor’s range of technical felts includes several high-quality, insulating products. Their high temperature resistance makes them suitable for a variety of applications, and they offer effective protection against fire. PANOX Welding Black® needle felt is a high-performance, flame-retardant coating. Available in three versions – with PANOX fibres and/or without polyester, and a thickness of 2.5 or 5 mm (black color), it is resistant to chemicals (acids, for example). It is also characterised by its excellent thermal insulation. It is therefore frequently used:
- in the automobile industry ;
- for the fabrication of fire protection equipment.
PANOX, a high-performance synthetic fibre
Welding Black® needle felt is made from a high-performance technical fibre: PANOX, which is associated with polyester in two of our products. Because of its chemical structure, this fibre doesn’t break down: it doesn’t burn, melt, drip or go soft. It is therefore extremely stable.
Flame-resistant, PANOX provides effective protection against fire and heat. All these technical properties ensure its adaptability. This Welding Black® felt also guarantees :
- excellent heat resistance;
- very good fire resistance;
- high temperature resistance;
- good thermal and acoustic insulation.
It is also antistatic, and as it is fireproof, it prevents the spreading of flames. Instead, it helps to hold back or even stop fires. When used on other materials or equipment, it protects them from burning and overheating.
Common applications of this technical felth
The technical characteristics of this PANOX Welding Black® needle felt make it compatible with different applications, including :
- vehicle protection (e.g. fire barriers for bus, train or car seats) ;
- passive fire protection;
- welding protection equipment, including blankets to protect against sparks and projections.
Its high heat and fire resistance makes it perfect for the manufacture of protective clothing and gloves.
